The settlement preceded the marriage of William Parker of the Grotto, Yanwath (Westmorland), and Mary Hasell, daughter of Edward Williams Hasell of Dalemain. The trustees were Francis Parker of Rokeby, Yorks, Esq.; Nelson Parker of Enholmes, Patington, Yorks, Esq.; George Henry Carleton Sunderland of Swarthdale near Ulverston, Lieutenant RN; and Andrew Fleming Hudleston. The first party was William Parker of Skirwith Abbey, Esq. Property settled: 1. Lands, houses, cottages, bleach works, cotton factories, dye works, and other buildings thereon, at Heaton Norris, Lancs. 2. Messuage and farmland called Sowerby Row p. Castle Sowerby, part freehold, part copyhold. 3. A sum of £10,000 charged on the Heaton Norris estate. 4. Edward Williams Hasell's life assurance policy of £2000, 1834 5.
