Context"Parish School (mixed) , built in 1858, and enlarged in 1872 for 140 children; average attendance, 80; William Brown, master; Mrs Fanny Brown, mistress" Kelly's Directory 1897. William Brown became Headmaster in 1877, a year before the first deposited log book begins, and remained so until December 1918. The modern Beckermet CE Primary School on Mill Lane was built in 1965 and a new block was added some years later.
