CASCAT is the Cumbria Archive Service Catalogue.

Our online catalogue contains over 750,000 descriptions of historic records kept at our Archive Centres in Barrow, Carlisle, Kendal and Whitehaven.

You can do simple keyword searches using the Search field above or more complex catalogue search using the Advanced Search. Use "" to search on a phrase, for example "John Smith". Use * as a wildcard, for example farm* to search for farm, farms, farming and farmers. Click on New collections to find out more about our recent important additions and new catalogues. Our Image Gallery enables you to see a few significant items from our holdings. The catalogue database is updated daily.

The firm started out as drysalters, dyers, rope, line, and twine manufacturers, and had started building laundry machinery by the 1890s. The machines were manufactured at the Ibis works in Kendal.
